The Role

The Software Engineer Apprentice will support the design, development, testing and implementation of software solutions used within immersive and synthetic training environments. Working as part of a multidisciplinary software team, the apprentice will contribute to a variety of projects while developing technical skills, industry knowledge and professional experience within a highly innovative defence technology environment.

Due to continued growth and expansion, MVR is seeking a motivated and ambitious individual to join our Engineering Team as a Software Engineer Apprentice.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin or further develop a career in software engineering whilst gaining hands-on experience working on real-world defence and simulation projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

The successful candidate will undertake a structured apprenticeship programme in partnership with the University of Chichester, combining academic study with practical workplace experience

Skills and Knowledge:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who demonstrate a genuine passion for software engineering, technology, and innovation.

Desirable skills and interests include:

  • Interest in software development and emerging technologies
  • Basic understanding of programming principles
  • Awareness of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Interest in coding languages such as C++, Java, or Python
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to learn and develop within a technical environment

Essential Academic Requirements:

Essential:

Applicants should meet one of the following criteria:

  • 3 x A Levels (Grade C or above), or
  • BTEC Level 3 Qualification, or
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification

Personal Attributes:

  • Motivated individual, with the drive to complete tasks. 
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written. 
  • Self-starter able to quickly get started from the outset.

Security Clearance: Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain SC (Security Check) clearance and be willing to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
