Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to be a reliable 3D Modeller within the development team. As a 3D Modeller you will be responsible to produce assets to support delivery of XR projects within the Defence Sector. You will be primarily required to create assets for game engines and other real time applications, there will also be opportunities for personal development in other projects. 

You need to be capable in a variety of disciplines such as animation, texture designing, compositing, digital sculpting. 

The company prides itself on providing training to modellers looking to diversify their skillset and will offer you the chance to work on projects across a range of areas, including web, mobile, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence.   

Your secondary responsibilities will include support to horizon scanning and to the development of the training modernisation approach to identify opportunities to exploit virtual training and simulation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Training in support of its strategic aims. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Creation of 3D models following studio workflow and process.
  • Optimising existing assets for real time applications.
  • Support testing and deployment of projects.
  • Provide clear and frequent communication with Senior 3D Modellers and Technical Lead(s).
  • Provide technical knowledge to help the company make informed decisions for new business.
  • Provide relevant support to the Customer and sub-contractors through the development and delivery process as directed.
  • In support of horizon scanning, look for new technology, companies, and solutions in the market.
  • Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and business.  

Specialist Knowledge and Essential Skills 

Essential Skills: 

  • Demonstratable Experience as a 3D Modeller with supporting portfolio.
  • Experienced in 3DS Max, Substance Painter and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of other software packages supporting 3D rendering, animation, and texturing Experience working in a collaborative, development environment.
  • Knowledge of the full development pipeline.
  • Knowledge of PBR workflow.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or another relevant course.

Desirable Skills:  

  • Blender, Vray or Arnold, Substance Designer, Zbrush or Mudbox, Illustrator, and After Effects.
  • Experience deploying 3D assets into Unity / Unreal.
  • Identify and suggest changes to the developer pipeline and workflow.
