Metaverse VR is a high-technology organisation that provides innovative training solutions, simulation and consultancy services to UK Defence (Government and Industry), as well as customers in other countries and highly regulated industries. We have a core team with an exceptional level of knowledge and skills in training solutions, who ensure customer expectations are exceeded through high-quality and timely delivery.

The Role & Role Purpose

The Role
The role translates customer needs and emerging technical opportunities into well-defined, technically sound and deliverable training solutions and services. Working across the full Systems Approach to Training lifecycle, the role is one of MVR’s lead training experts, supporting initial customer engagements through to acceptance and through-life support.

Role Purpose
Reporting to the DoTI, this role supports MVR Projects and External Consultancy Services, capturing user and technical requirements for training solutions and managing the associated acceptance and assurance activities. The role may also require leading consultancy projects and providing support to training solution R&D activities.
Acting under delegated authority from the DoTI, the Senior Training and Requirements Lead is MVR’s senior internal training specialist and Training Technical Authority for formally designated projects and consultancies, responsible for MVR’s training methods, design recommendations and internal assurance. This authority does not replace the customer’s Training Requirements Authority, contractual approval, project management or engineering design authority, and any conflicts affecting the role should be escalated to the DoTI.
As a senior MVR Employee, the Senior Training and Requirements Lead also supports the MVR Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with managing change and key organisational events, including contributing to business planning, bids and change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

This includes facilitating workshops, capturing evidence to support decisions, and influencing the design of training solutions and services.
• Lead or oversee Training Needs Analysis (TNA) in accordance with JSP 822, including scoping, role and training gap analysis, and training options and media analysis.
• Determine appropriate fidelity and technology requirements for simulation, synthetic and immersive (XR) training solutions, ensuring technology choices are driven by training need.
• Support MVR systems engineering and delivery leads with detailed training solution design and system/service requirements definition, influencing the appropriate design of training solutions and functional requirements, and ensuring training requirements are reflected in project UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) and media style guides in accordance with mandated and user requirements.
• Oversee and manage traceability from user requirements and training needs to learning and assessment outcomes, solution/service requirements and acceptance evidence, so that training solution design and technical implementation remain coherent.
• Ensure training solution requirements are clear and verifiable, and support verification and validation (V&V) activities with systems engineering and delivery teams.
• Support formal acceptance by assuring MVR’s training solution evidence and recommending readiness for formal submission to the designated customer authority.

Training Leadership and Assurance

• Exercise Training Technical Authority within designated projects and consultancies. This authority does not replace the customer’s Training Requirements Authority (TRA) or Training Delivery Authority (TDA), contractual approval, project management or engineering design authority, and any conflicts affecting the role should be escalated to the DoTI.
• Define and maintain MVR templates and review criteria for training analysis, design, evaluation, requirements and acceptance, aligned to customer policy and contractual obligations.
• Provide technical oversight across MVR’s portfolio of training solutions and services; review and critically analyse customer feedback, learning and assessment designs, requirements and acceptance plans. • Lead or support internal validation and support external validation and evaluation of training solutions, using recognised evaluation models to evidence training effectiveness.
• Lead resolution of complex training solution/service design and development issues and advise the DoTI and project managers on technical risk, scope changes and decisions requiring customer agreement.

Consultancy and Continual Improvement

• Support Consultancy Services and Projects with the development of options, dependencies, delivery planning, assurance activities, risks and benefits, and through-life support solutions.
• Use evaluation findings, customer feedback and lessons learned to improve MVR methods and processes and inform relevant R&D for future products and services.

People Management

• Where appropriate, line manage, coach and support assigned Training and Requirements Leads and specialist contractor associates; plan their workload and review delegated work.

Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and support to the business.

• Adaptable and comfortable working with ambiguity and emerging technology.
• Customer-focused, with a strong commitment to quality and continual improvement.

• Extensive experience leading training analysis, including TNA, solution/service design and assurance for complex technical/operational individual and collective training programmes, in defence training or closely comparable regulated environments.
• Deep practical knowledge of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and JSP 822, or an equivalent systems approach, and the ability to adapt it proportionately to project scope and risk.
• Understanding of training media and fidelity analysis, and how it informs the selection and specification of training technologies.
• Experience of training solution/service requirements, traceability, verification and validation, evaluation and acceptance evidence, including the interface with systems engineering and project delivery.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams or workstreams, reviewing technical outputs and developing specialist systems/solutions.
• Experience of acting as a Training Technical Authority or equivalent, providing assurance and design recommendations within defined customer, contractual and engineering authority boundaries.
• Credibility with senior customers and partners, with clear written and verbal communication skills and the judgement to challenge scope, methods and proposed solutions.
